The belief behind CigarPop
Long before CigarPop, details mattered.
Every chapter of my professional life was built around craftsmanship, accuracy, accountability, and the belief that good enough is rarely good enough.
Third-Generation Auto Body Craftsman
As a third-generation auto body technician, I discovered early that I was not satisfied with good enough. I gravitated toward restoration and custom work, applying my artistic side to cars, trucks, and motorcycles, where craftsmanship, precision, and attention to detail separated average work from exceptional work.
Founding Member of PRO-Claims
I then became a founding member of PRO-Claims, an industry leader in insurance claims desk reviews, estimating, and adjusting services. Working within both the collision repair and insurance claims industries gave me a unique understanding of proper repair procedures, accurate estimating, documentation, and the importance of holding every detail to a higher standard.
Environmentally Responsible Business Ownership
Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, I later founded and owned Georgia’s first environmentally friendly collision repair facilities . The innovative approach, environmental responsibility, and uncompromising commitment to quality earned recognition through magazine features, newspaper articles, and online publications.
Returning to the Insurance Claims Industry
After successfully building and operating those businesses, I returned to the insurance claims industry. Over a career spanning more than three decades, I handled estimating, quality assurance, catastrophe response, complex property claims, and major residential and commercial losses. I also mentored adjusters, performed technical reviews, and became known for accuracy, experience, and a commitment to getting the job done correctly.
Sometimes a forced pause changes how you see everything.
In 2024, my life changed unexpectedly.
A work-related injury led to three surgeries and permanently changed the course of my career. It also taught me something I had never really thought about before.
Like many people, I had taken life’s simplest gifts for granted, like walking, always being on the move, and believing there would always be time later to slow down.
There wasn’t.
During my recovery, premium cigars became more than something to enjoy. They became an opportunity to pause, reflect, and appreciate the moments that are so often overlooked.
I found myself paying closer attention to the craftsmanship, the flavors, the conversations, and the simple pleasure of being present.
Life moves fast. A great cigar reminds us that we don’t have to.
What began with honest reviews became something much larger.
CigarPop has grown into a podcast, books, original music, merchandise, and a community built around people who understand that premium cigars are about more than tobacco.
The goal is not to tell anyone what they should smoke. It is to provide enough useful information for each person to decide whether a cigar may be right for them.
There is no single best cigar for everyone. There is only the cigar that best fits the person, the palate, and the moment.
The same principles that guided my professional career now guide every review, podcast episode, book, song, and project connected to CigarPop.
A cigar is more than a score.
I review cigars the same way I have approached everything throughout my career, by paying attention to the details and explaining how each one affects the complete experience.
A cigar is the sum of its materials, construction, performance, flavor, presentation, and the experience it creates. If a cigar impresses me, I explain why. If it misses the mark, I explain that too.
The purpose is not to convince anyone to agree with my palate. It is to provide a clear, honest assessment that helps viewers and readers decide whether a cigar may suit their preferences.
The standard has always been the same: if something is worth doing, it is worth doing correctly.
